NCE is going to Iceland! Join your fellow community members for a not-to-be-missed guided tour of the Icelandic Ring Road.  This 7-day odyssey will include opportunities to drink in stunning natural sights and beauty, partake in Iceland’s fascinating culture, heritage, and delicious food, and see many geological features that can only be found in Iceland.   For those who are interested, we will hold a pre-class on Icelandic sagas and basic Icelandic, but participation in the course isn’t required!

Here are just a few of the trip highlights:

  • Reykjavik
  • Mid-Atlantic Ridge (where two continental tectonic plates meet!)
  • Glaciers (including Glacier Lagoon boat tour and glacier hike!)
  • Volcanic crater views, up close and personal!
  • Geysers & hot springs
  • Magnificent fjords
  • Historical sites such as the Althing, the oldest parliament in Europe
  • Bird & puffin watching
  • Lava Cave tour
  • Horseback Riding with the Eldhestar
  • Chance to meet locals
  • Spa time at Myvatn Nature Baths

NCE’s expansion into international travel is a direct result of our exciting new partnership with the Newton Public Schools’ Global Education  office, which regularly organizes international learning opportunities and travel for Newton Public School students and adults. Their years of expertise will allow you to enjoy the best that Iceland has to offer in the company of other fantastic Newton adults!

Every detail is planned out and taken care of for you. All you have to do is pack your bag and book a flight! But don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time for spontaneous encounters and periods of independence where you are free to explore.
