COURSE ADMISSION Adult courses are open to students 16 years of age and older. Residents of other communities are welcome to enroll in courses. There is a $6 registration fee per student each semester.

ENROLLMENT Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You are officially enrolled once we receive your completed registration form and payment, as long as there is still space available. Please register early so you won’t miss out!

COURSE CONFIRMATIONS We send course confirmations if you register online and we’ll contact you if there are any changes.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS Full refunds are given when a class is cancelled due to low enrollment. You must withdraw at least one week before your course’s starting date to receive either a refund minus a $10 processing fee or a course voucher minus a $5 processing fee. We regret that no other refunds or vouchers will be given. (For Kids & Teens summer programs, you must withdraw by May 31 to receive a refund minus a $25 processing fee. There will be no refunds for withdrawals after May 31.) Note: Refunds for checks and cash take 4-6 weeks; for credit cards, allow one week.

CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION Certificates are available from your instructor upon successful completion of a course. Please request in advance.

DISCOUNTS If you’re a “senior” (age 65+), an employee of the City of Newton, or a veteran, you’re eligible for a 15% discount off the tuition of many of our classes, but only if you let us know at the time of registration. The discount does not apply to ESL, trade, one-session, off-campus, and other select courses, and cannot be combined with any other discounts, such as already-reduced “couples” rates. Discounts do not apply to materials or food fees, including those that are built into our advertised tuitions. You cannot sign up with senior or employee discounts online; you must call or visit our office.

SCHOLARSHIPS Partial tuition-remission scholarship is available on a limited basis for Newton residents. Please call 617-559-6999 for more information.

GIFT CERTIFICATES You may purchase a certificate for any amount to be used for any course we offer.

SMOKING No smoking is permitted.

WEATHER CANCELLATIONS If Newton public schools are cancelled during the day due to inclement weather, our classes are also cancelled. (“No School” and “Delayed Opening” announcements are generally made before 6am on the following radio stations and television channels: WBZ Radio (1030 AM): WRKO Radio (680 AM); TV channels 4, 5, and 7. You may also log on to www3.newton.k12.ma.us or you may call 617-559-9699 for a pre-recorded message. If a storm begins late in the day, call the Newton School’s hotline, 617-559-9020, for updates on whether buildings have been closed due to weather conditions. Use your judgment, sense, and caution while driving in New England’s winter weather!

SUPPLIES Materials fees and food fees are not included in the tuition unless so stated. All food fees and sales of supplies are final. No discounts apply.

BOOKS Unless otherwise noted in our course descriptions, textbooks for NCE classes are available at New England Mobile Book Fair (NEMBF), 82 Needham St., Newton Highlands. Go to the shipping area in the rear of the store.

EVALUATION FORMS Printed forms are distributed at the end of the class. You may also use the online evaluation form found on our Contact page. We value your input at any time.

PARKING Newton South and Newton North High Schools have ample parking, in lots adjacent to the school building. Parking is available on neighborhood streets; please pay attention to all official street signs, as parking laws are enforced.
