HiSet (formerly known as GED) Program

The ETS High School Equivalency Test (HiSET®) has replaced the program known as GED. It is the first alternative to the GED® test since 1942, and includes elements that are critical to providing educational opportunities for those who need a second chance to succeed. Newton Community Education (NCE), an arm of the Newton Public Schools, no longer administers the HiSet (formerly GED) exam. For more information about the HiSet exam and to locate HiSet test centers, visit hiset.ets.org or phone 1-855-694-4738. NCE does offer a test prep class to help prepare students for  the five sections of the HiSET® test: Writing, Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math. Instruction will be individualized when possible. Handouts will be provided for the class. To learn more about the test prep class offered by NCE, call our main office at 617-559-6999.
